SRL East early works began on 2 June 2022, with major construction expected to commence in 2023 and tunnelling works in 2026. The Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is a 90-kilometre rail ring around Melbourne's middle, linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, and better connecting Victorians to jobs and retail.
The SRL Business and Investment Case and a detailed Environment Effects Statement Initial were released following extensive planning and design work. The SRL will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport better connecting Victorians to jobs retail.
