The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the New York Mets 8-5 on August 28, 2024, at Chase Field.
The D-Backs’ offense erupted for 11 hits, including three home runs. Ketel Marte led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, including a two-run homer in the third inning.
Christian Walker and David Peralta also homered for Arizona. Walker’s solo shot in the fourth inning gave the D-Backs a 3-2 lead, and Peralta’s two-run blast in the sixth inning extended the lead to 7-3.

Jeurys Familia allowed two runs in the third inning, and Seth Lugo gave up two more in the fourth. Chasen Shreve allowed the decisive two runs in the sixth inning on Peralta’s home run.

The D-Backs’ bullpen held on for the victory, allowing just one run in the final four innings.
J.B. Wendelken pitched a scoreless fifth inning, and Ian Kennedy allowed just one run in the sixth. Kevin Ginkel pitched a perfect seventh inning, and Mark Melancon earned his 24th save of the season with a scoreless eighth and ninth innings.
